Pregenerating Chunks with Chunky

Reduce world generation lag by pregenerating terrain using the Chunky plugin or mod with simple console commands.

Installing Chunky

1. Open the Installer Panel

  • Access either the Plugin Installer or Mods Installer from your dashboard.

2. Locate Chunky

Section titled “2. Locate Chunky”
  • Enter “Chunky” in the search field to find the appropriate version.

3. Add to Your Server

  • Click Install to download and configure Chunky.

4. Apply Changes

  • Reboot your server to enable the plugin or mod.

Running Chunk Pregeneration

1. Open Server Console

  • Navigate to the Console panel in your dashboard.

2. Set Generation Radius

Section titled “2. Set Generation Radius”
  • For a 5000-block radius, enter:
    • /chunky radius 5000

3. Begin Generation Process

Section titled “3. Begin Generation Process”
  • Execute /chunky start to initiate terrain generation within your defined area.

4. Track Generation Status

Section titled “4. Track Generation Status”
  • Check progress anytime with /chunky progress.

5. Control Generation (Optional)

Section titled “5. Control Generation (Optional)”
  • Temporarily halt with /chunky pause.
  • Completely stop with /chunky cancel.

Best Practices for Chunk Generation

Schedule During Low Activity: Pregeneration consumes considerable resources, so run it when player counts are minimal.

Verify Resource Availability: Confirm your server has adequate CPU and memory to handle the generation workload.

Track System Performance: Use monitoring tools to observe server health throughout the generation process.
